One of the best things about each return trip is meeting with the Young Leaders Group of Immanuel Baptist Church. Over seven years ago, Greg Brown and I started this group, meeting each week in my condo. The original aim was to meet weekly with a young man named Eddie from our church who was entering the military, to use the time leading up to his induction as a chance to learn about what it means to be a man of God and to stand firm in your beliefs. The first night, he brought two friends, the next week, they brought two more... We eventually outgrew the condo and had to move to a meeting place at the church. When Eddie entered the army, the group insisted we had to keep meeting. The goal grew to that of developing young men into leaders for the church, for their community, and for Thailand. Today, the group is still going strong under the capable leadership of Seth, Win, and Mick. Some weeks we have just ten or so, at our annual camp we have had upwards of fifty. Regardless of the number, it is so rewarding to meet with these college age/young professional men each time I come back...
Dinner at Athen restaurant, the official dining place of Young Leaders Group!
Taking time at the end of the meeting to share our burdens and pray for each other...
