Although I lived here for seven years, I only rode on a city bus twice, and both times with Thai friends. I'd never ridden solo, mostly from fear of ending up in Cambodia. But today, I decided to make a memory. I wanted to visit my friend Steve-o, a student at Mahidol University. Usually, he comes to my part of town when we get together, and I knew it was a long commute, so I wanted to spare him that this time.
And that meant taking the bus...
There, you have to sort out which bus to take and locate it. Steve-o has told me I needed the 515 bus and have gave me an idea where to find it.
All around the bus loading ahead are food vendors for hungry commuters.
My my chariot awaits!
Thankfully, the ticket taker lady was very nice. I told her the stop I wanted and was able to tell her in Thai that I had no idea where this was, and she assured me that she'd make sure I got off at the right place. And she did!
And it was well worth the effort. I haven't seen my buddy Steve-o in months and we had much to get caught up on. A great lunch and great visit. And making memories with a bus ride!
(My Thai friends are probably groaning and rolling their eyes now!)
